The Dog Development Program is the Boston Jr. Terriers own in-house introductory league for beginner hockey players. It is NOT a learn-to-play program...please see our Bavis Learn to Play tab for further information on that. It is NOT a travel development program...please see our Bavis Fed Futures tab for further information on that.
No tryout is necessary for this program, however all players in our Dog Development Program should have completed our Learn to Play programs before participating. The program consists of weekly skills at Bavis and weekly cross-ice games on Sunday in Rockland and/or Canton in conjunction with our Canton Dog Development Program. We will also introduce these players to full ice game play. In creating teams, we will attempt to balance the players based upon age, ability as well as hometowns for commuting purposes.
The 2022-2023 program will be broken up into a Fall and Winter Session as outlined below:
(1) Fall Session: 11 Weeks September 7 - November 20
*games begin September 18
(2) Winter Session: 11 Weeks December 7 - February 26 (No skates 12/25, 12/28, 1/1)
*games begin December 11
This combination of weekly skills complimented by cross-ice games allows the player to maximize their repetitions and puck touches to quickly support the growth and development of the individual player before entering the highly competitive full season teams that we offer as part of the Eastern Hockey Federation. This program is open to 2015, 2016 and 2017 birth years.
The Details:
